This is a super simple pumpkin hammering activity to teach letters through engaging fine motor fun for Fall. Quick to set up and mess free.
Pumpkins add some much excitement to kids activities. Big or small, they are so much fun to play and explore with.
“Pumpkin, Pumpkin, large and round, growing on the patchy ground.”
So what else can you do with pumpkins besides carving jack-o-lanterns…lots!
Making pumpkin crafts are a lot of fun however, I wanted to do something different this year. Something that involved some letters learning.
First, write the letters you would like to use with your pumpkin on dot stickers then place them on the top of the golf tees.
Next, write the matching letters you wrote on the golf tees on to the top half of the pumpkin.
The bottom half is tricky to hammer into so I’d avoid writing letters there.
Now, your kids are ready to start pumpkin hammering and have some fun!
Have your child pick up a golf tee and find the matching letter on the pumpkin.
Once they’ve found it they can hammer the golf tee into the pumpkin.
Hammering is great fine motor practice for kids and its especially fun with a pumpkin!
I’m not going to lie, I wanted to try hammering some tees into the letters on the pumpkin myself.
My daughter had a lot of fun doing this. She did the whole alphabet and was engaged the whole time.
That’s a win in my books!
Once she completed all the tees, she then took them all out. This was also great fine motor practice.
Some were pretty little tricky to get out.
Not only did my daughter stay engaged the whole time with the pumpkin letters, but she wanted to play more.
She then decided to start hammering the golf tees into the pumpkin in the shape of a circle.
She was so proud of herself when she completed it.
